We have a simple philosophy at Monty’s – we love dogs, and we care about their health and wellbeing. To us, every dog deserves to live their best life.
We understand that every dog is different. Our team of professionally trained and qualified staff take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, and we work closely with veterinarians and alternative therapy professionals to ensure every client is well looked after.
It’s our passion to provide everything you need to ensure your beloved dog is well cared for.
Having experienced first hand the medical and wellbeing issues of having a pet with ongoing injuries and illnesses, Monty’s was established to help other families going through the same emotional (and financial) turmoil.
We’ve recruited like-minded individuals who share our passion for whole-of-life care, including practitioners who are leaders in their respective fields.
We’ve left no stone unturned in our pursuit of dog wellness – we’re constantly educating ourselves and updating our practices to ensure Monty’s is providing the very best practices available.
Why not schedule an appointment to meet our friendly team and find out how Monty’s can help your family today.
Our beloved Monty is the namesake and inspiration for establishing our dog health and wellness facility.
A beautiful little grey and white Maltese Shitzu, we’re not sure where Monty was born – somewhere in Victoria we believe. We don’t know anything about his parents, but we do know that when he was six weeks old, Monty was in a pet shop somewhere in Perth, WA.
We never had any intentions of purchasing a puppy from a pet store. But when we saw him – wonky legs and all – sitting by himself, we knew we had a to take him home.
Unfortunately, Monty’s health issues were numerous. At a very young age he developed a lameness thanks to those wonky legs. We had moved to Busselton by this time and Monty would eventually go on to have two Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) operations. Back then, there was no hydrotherapy available for canine rehabilitation in the South West.
As a result, it was a long way to Perth for a little fellow who by this time had also recently been diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. It meant we also had to go back and forth to Perth every 4-6 weeks for a professional groomer to attend to his weird curly coat.
Eventually joint soreness and arthritis developed as Monty aged. Medication helped, but again hydrotherapy would have been a welcome addition to his weekly routine. There are many photos of Monty in a laundry bucket being carried across the sand, so he could have a little ‘run’ and play along the beach.
Monty was loyal, funny and highly intelligent. He never growled or snapped at other people or dogs, and certainly never complained about the constant health issues he had over the years. His enthusiasm and attitude towards life left us in awe.
Monty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and favourite vet. He will forever be remembered and is always in our hearts.
We’ve heard so many similar stories to Monty’s over the years. We always wished we could have done more, which is where the idea for Monty’s Place began…
